Farmers markets are a little bit like puppies to me. One is cuter than the next. But this one in Santa Barbara, on Saturdays in the downtown area, it is truly fantastic.

- I've always been obsessed with travel, and so is my husband Matt, a photographer who shoots alot of travel. When our daughter Clara (now eight) was born, some friends tried to tell us we'd never travel again, but we were determined to prove them wrong. When she was a toddler, I became the travel and lifestyle editor of Cookie Magazine, and we travelled as a family for the magazine, near and far, high and low, for five years. I want to share our experiences here, because I think travel is so important, even if it's just exploring in your own neighborhood. I know traveling is a commitment--leaving your comfort zone, wondering if it's even going to be worth the hassle and expense. We all need ideas on where to go, the best way to get there, and what to do once you're there. Usually these ideas are best when they come from a friend, someone you trust, who has done it already. I hope you'll find some inspiration here.

Is this the Farmers Market in Santa Barbara? They always have such delicious produce and the people selling are always SO nice! It's a charming thing to be apart of and the whole community comes down so it is a really nice way to spend a morning. Makes for some good eats too depending on the season you're in as well. Grocery stores can't compete with their freshness! I'm so glad the hotel I was staying at a few years ago recommended I go-I would of never known! The South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). Elegant and cozy. Perfect combination!
