For the Train Obsessed

I've always wanted to go to the Texas Hill Country.  I'm not sure why, but I just have this idea that I'm going to really like it. So I was doing some research for a potential trip to Texas, and came across this place, The Antlers. It's on Lake LBJ, and it's a historical hotel, but the reason why I'm writing about it here, is that you can stay in these cool cabooses. One of them is called the McKinley Coach, and its from 1880.

Travel Moment

I love pictures of us in transit.  So often we just take out the camera for the moments that happen once we get there. When I find these images from the plane/train/car, I feel like those are the moments we have so much more often, but actually don't usually have documented.  Here, we are on a train between the Dordogne region and Paris.

Amtrak: Give it a Chance

From the look of these pictures above, you wouldn't imagine they could be from a train trip in this country.  But, they are. My dear friend Jen Smith just moved from New York to Tucson, and made the move by taking a cross-country train trip with her 10 year old son Fisher.  She writes about her experience on theinsidesource.com, along with great pictures of her journey and invaluable tips.  It's completely inspired me to get on board Amtrak.
