We just came back from an amazing trip to Switzerland and Austria, where we were on assignment for Travel+Leisure. We hit the ground running--and managed to squeeze in alot in a half a day, even with the jet lag.
At a lovely tea house in St. Gallen, Switzerland
At a 16th cent place we stopped for lunch, we couldn't get over the vintage graffiti.
We discovered the joy of taking all the bread in the basket, and saving it for feeding swans...
A lovely bathhouse from 1924 in Rorschach on Lake Constance
Hundertwasser Market Hall
On way to dinner at the Schattenberg Castle in Feldkirch, Austria
On our way into the castle for dinner.
The dining room at the Schattenberg--above and below
The most perfect potato salad is this kind with no mayo and lots of vinegar.
Insanely delicious wiener schnitzel.
And off to sleep in the lovely Hotel Alpenrose in Feldkirch. Our room slept the three of us, had a tub, included breakfast, and was 116 euros a night (right now the euro is $1.27). We decided that a room in a hotel this nice would be 300 euros in any major city.
