(swimming area at Skaneateles)
A couple of weeks ago we were in the NY Finger Lakes region, and drove through the Skaneateles area. Since I'm obsessed with Wake Robin Farm yogurt which I bought at the Skaneateles Bakery during my visit there in the winter, I thought it would be fun to visit their farm with Clara. Then when I was on the Wake Robin Farm site, I discovered the Elderberry Pond Farm (they sell their yogurt), a 100 acre farm that has a restaurant and a farm store, that was in between Skaneateles and the Wake Robin Farm. We set out on a road trip to hit all three. First stop the bakery, where Clara got to sample an amazing donut, and then we walked around the town park on the lake, which is gin clear. We headed to the Elderberry Pond Farm for lunch, which was as delicious as it was beautiful. Most of their food comes from their farm, or nearby farms, with an emphasis on organic. Afterwards we went next door to the idyllic farm store, and then spent a good amount of time on the tire swing. This is one of those kind of restaurants you find all over Europe, but never here. I would definitely put this on your list if you find yourself in these parts.

Lastly we headed to Wake Robin Farm, where we got to meet Meg, who runs the farm with her husband. We forgot to bring our cooler, so we didn't buy any yogurt or milk, which is a big bummer, since you can only get their products in Central New York. Luckily I had to pick up Matt in Syracuse the next morning, so we hit the huge farmers market , where Meg sells on Saturdays.
If you're into the idea of heading that way, here are some places that look interesting to stay:The Aurora Inn
